Insulation

Today’s insulation products offer improved insulating benefits that help lower your heating and cooling costs. These products can easily be applied to existing structures. The variety of insulation products include:

  • Batt Insulation – Suitable for any type of application, fiberglass batts are widely used in new construction or are applied in the attic space of an existing structure, where they are installed between the stud cavities.
  • Blow Insulation – Made from recycled materials, this insulation is “blown” into the wall and ceiling cavities.
  • Sound Insulation – For existing homes or new construction, insulation is used to dampen “room-to-room” sound.
  • Attic Insulation Removal and Re-blow – Old, less effective insulation is removed and replaced with more efficient blown insulation.

Siding Insulation

When installing siding on a new construction, you will need to apply a layer of exterior wall sheathing insulation. Sometimes re-siding work on existing structures also requires a new layer of foam sheathing to improve the insulating properties of the walls. Foam sheathings are not meant for exposed applications and therefore should be covered with siding as soon as possible. If your home currently is sided with asbestos, a contractor is required to follow special siding procedures. Never install siding by yourself if asbestos in involved. Due to the push for energy conservation, more attention is being given to insulated siding. There are two types: Factory laminated backer board and drop-in panels. Drop-in panels are available in convenient lengths and can be easily installed on the job site.
